FABRIC. Sigh… swoon… fabric. Is there any other word that evokes as much pleasure for a quilter? Just say the word and you’re transported to a world of colourful bolts of crisp cottons, all screaming with potential. Fabric is the foundation of our craft, and for many, the curation of a beautiful stash is as big a part of our hobby as the piecing or quilting. Most of us have plenty of fabric – maybe more than we’ll ever use. And yet we can’t resist adding to our collections. (No judgement here)! But the art of the fabric pull and translating a pattern into a finished quilt can be a stumbling block. Do you use solids or prints? One collection, or everything but the kitchen sink? Do you raid your stash or buy new for a project? There are so many options and no right or wrong approach, which only adds to the challenge … sometimes too much choice is too much! We’re here to help you unpack the information available and give you the strategies to help you pull fabrics with confidence. In this issue we start the conversation with Playing with Prints, encouraging you to use the prints in your stash.

Don’t just take my word for it, here are some recent reviews from readers:
I really enjoy the variety of projects and styles. The magazine is very well put together, beautiful photos and layout. Thank you for such a wonderful and engaging magazine! – Ann, USA
As I live in Germany, I am really happy with the digital only format and I like that the magazine is adapted to digital only, i.e. the links actually work and I can just open up the pages while I am reading. 2-monthly is a great schedule, not too often to be overwhelming but just long enough to be on the lookout for the next issue. And the patterns are amazing, great value for the price (I also made two of the patterns already). I also like to read about other quilters but tbh I mostly look at the photos included for inspiration. I am completely happy with MM! P.S.: I bought the all-access pass so I got all issues that have been published until I started with my subscription which was totally worth it. – Helen, Germany
Really there’s just to much to mention! The colours, the designs, articles by fabulous designers. The ability to make each pattern your own. I love each issue for its originality! – Sandra, Canada
We MEET makers
In Issue 53 we MEET Aussie legend Kathy Doughty from Material Obsession, a master of fabric mixing who creates stunning quilts using all the prints; Amira Ameruddin of Little Mushroom Cap in Malaysia who turned to quilting as an antidote to the stress of studying for her PhD, and US quilter and avid woodworker Audrey Esarey of Cotton and Bourbon who tells us how she made her dream of having a quilt juried in to QuiltCon a reality ♥

The best thing about our independent publication is that every time you email, you’ll get to chat directly with me, co-founder of the magazine, and a fellow quilt enthusiast. Trust me, the first time I cut up a piece of fabric into smaller bits just to sew it back together again, I was bitten by the bug too.
I hope wherever you are in the world, you are safe, sheltered, and surrounded by fabric. Digital hugs from one quilter to another,
xo Lara Motta
