Explaining foundation paper piecing (FPP) with words alone can get a little… messy. (Kind of like trying to teach someone to tie their shoes over the phone!) 📞👟 Lucky for us, Anne made a fantastic video walking you through exactly how to piece your Moon Diamond blocks.

🧵 Top Tips for FPP Success

• Shorten your stitch length to about 1.5 — it really does help when you are finished and are pulling off the papers!

  

• Set up a mini workstation: Anne recommends having a little cutting area and pressing area right next to your sewing machine — it’ll really speed up the block-making process!

• Take your time: Foundation paper piecing can feel a bit fiddly at first, but once you get into the rhythm, it’s like riding a bike … except with less risk of scraped knees and more risk of running out of fabric you love! 

There are a few different ways to do foundation paper piecing and Kristy Lea of Quiet Play Designs (also Make Modern’s Creative Director) has a tutorial video showing the way she does FPP. Feel free to watch both videos and pick the way that feels most natural to you!
